Kanak ka Meetha (Wheat Kheer)


A sweet kheer made with wheat grains, this Punjabi concoction is a delicious blend of broken wheat, milk, jaggery and nuts that can be made for various occasions or festivals.

Serves: 4 portions

 

INGREDIENTS

· Roasted wheat 200gms

· Ghee 150gms

· Jaggery 200gms

· Milk 200ml

· Almond 20gms

· Pistachios 30gms

· Raisins 30gms

· Cashews 20gms

· Cardamom 5gms

· Water as required

METHOD

1. Heat ghee in a thick-bottomed pan and roast wheat grains on a low flame.

2. Add water and cardamom and let it simmer for about 30 minutes.

3. As the wheat becomes soft, add milk and jaggery and let it cook till the mixture thickens.

4. Garnish with nuts and serve.
