Shingade ka Halwa

This lip-smacking Singhade ka halwa that is perfectly acceptable on fasting days. The use of ghee and cardamom powder give the halwa a very rich aroma. It is generously garnished with nuts, to add to the sumptuousness of this delightful dessert.

Serves: 500gms

 

INGREDIENTS:

· Shingade ka atta (water chestnut) 500gms

· Sugar 400 gms

· Ghee 500gms

· Green Cardamom powder 5 gms

· Water 1.5L

· Cashew nuts 50gms

· Almond/pistachio for garnish


METHOD

1. Heat ghee in a pan (low heat).

2. Add the shingade ka atta to the ghee and sear for 3-4 minutes until a light golden colour is achieved.

3. Add crushed cashew nuts to the pan and sear.

4. Add lukewarm water to the pan and stir.

5. Add sugar and cardamom powder in it. Stir continuously until ghee is released from the sides.

6. Cook on a medium low flame.

7. Garnish with slivers of almond or pistachio.
