Fish Caldine is a coconut-based fish curry popular in the Goan Cuisine. It is very similar to the Malabar Fish Curry.
Serves: 4 portions
INGREDIENTS
· Fish 1kg
· Coconut 150gms
· Cumin seeds 1gm
· Peppercorns 1gm
· Coriander seeds 2gms
· Turmeric 2gms
· Onions 150gms
· Tomato 80gms
· Oil 30ml
· Green chilies 2gms
· Salt 10gms
· Vinegar 10ml
METHOD
1. Clean and cut the fish, apply salt and keep it aside.
2. Grate the coconut and mix it with cumin, pepper, coriander and turmeric. Then slightly grind them together. Extract a thick and thin extract of the coconut milk.
3. Fry the sliced onions and tomato, add the thin extract and allow it to boil.
4. Then add the fish, green chilies (sliced), thick extract and a tablespoon of vinegar. Boil till the fish is cooked.
5. Serve hot with steamed rice
