Cholar Dal Narkel Diye

Cholar Dal is a traditional Bengali dish that is especially consumed on days when you can’t have onion and garlic. The dal is flavourful yet simple. It’s best paired with Luchi.

Serves: 4 portions

 

INGREDIENTS

· Chana Dal 700gms

· Turmeric powder 5gms

· Salt 20gms

· Sugar 20gms

· Coconut diced finely 150gms

· Fennel powder 5gms

· Ghee 75gms

· Cumin 20gms

METHOD

1. Wash and soak the dal for ten minutes.

2. Boil the dal, add turmeric and salt while boiling.

3. Temper the dal with ghee, fennel powder, cumin and coconut.

4. Add sugar and check the seasoning.
