Amritsari Macchi


Amristari Macchi is a fried fish snack coated in gram flour batter and served with coriander chutney. The carrom seeds gives it a distinctive taste.

Serves: 4 portions

 

INGREDIENTS

· Fish fingers 500gms

· Ginger paste 20gms

· Garlic paste 20gms

· Red chilli paste 20gms

· Lemon juice 20gms

· Rice flour 50gms

· Ajwain 5gms

· Gram flour 300gms

· Eggs 4pcs

· Salt to taste

· Amchoor powder 20gms

· Oil (for frying) 1L

METHOD

  1. Clean, wash and cut the fish into fillets or fingers.

  2. Apply salt, lime juice, ginger garlic paste and red chili paste.

  3. Dust the marinated fish with rice flour.

  4. Make a batter of gram flour, eggs, ajwain, salt and water.

  5. Marinate the fish in the batter for 10 minutes.

  6. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the fish until lightly brown and crisp.

  7. Sprinkled with chaat masala, lemon wedges and serve hot.

CHEF’S TIPS:

1. The fritters can be served with marinated onions and mint chutney.
